Pesach 2014

Pesach 2014
Chabad of RARA together with George Koulakis of the Townsville Jewish community, invite you all to attend the 2014 Passover Seder. The first Seder will be at 6pm on 14th April (Monday evening) at the Newmarket Hotel located at 499 Flinders St Townsville. For those who may wish to stay the night rather than travel, very reasonably priced accommodation is available upstairs from where the Seder will be held. The Manager of the Newmarket Hotel will close the premises and the Jewish community will have exclusive access to the hotel during Passover. This year we will have 3 young Rabbis attending to bring you a memorable experience. Kosher food and drink is all provided thanks to the generous support of Mr Saul and Shimmi Spigler of Chabad of RARA. This is a big event on the Jewish calendar and we invite you all to attend. If possible, I would like this year to ask for assistance from the community who will be willing to stay behind after the Seder to help clean up, (ie; clearing tables, stacking chairs, etc). As the saying goes, many hands make light work! If there are any questions regarding this year's Seder, please feel free to contact me ( George 0437256355 ) and I will do my best to help. I can’t wait to see you all, please forward this email to anyone within the Jewish community who I may have overlooked on my email list.

Townsville proudly hosted a wonderful Hanukkah party on Monday night at George and Kylie’s home. 40 guests attended from the Townsville and surrounding areas, bringing together a variety of food, experiences and faces for this one special event. Rabbi Chaim Wilhelm and his wonderful wife Ella arrived in Townsville to help make the night even more special thanks to Chabad of RARA who sponsored the visit. Chaim and Ella worked tirelessly all afternoon leading up to the party preparing delicious sufganiyot and latkes. Our night was full of laughter, games, stories, great company and conversation and wonderful tasty authentic food to top the night. Townsville sadly farewells one of its loveliest families who created and developed the children’s Jewish playgroup held every Sunday. Goodbye to Natalie Marxs and her husband Neil and three beautiful daughters Lily Talia and Ella. Good luck on your posting to Darwin. We hope you all settle in well and begin a new Jewish playgroup up north. With every door that closes, another opens and for us in Townsville, we say goodbye to Natalie and family, but hello to some new Jewish faces now moving to Townsville. Townsville welcomes Ruby, Anna, Daniel, Avital, Fred, Ofra, Ellen, Shlomi and Giovanni. Next year promises to be our best year yet, with more new families looking to move to Far North QLD.
